Barrow
Hill - Please also visit the support pages
of the offical Barrow Hill game website - www.barrow-hill.co.uk
Although Barrow Hill has been extensively tested by many skilled
testers, it is always possible that certain software configurations
(your individual Windows settings and versions) can cause conflicts
when playing. This can sometimes result in issues that affect
gameplay, installation and sound. Below are some questions and
answers which should cover any quirks or issues you may find.
Q:
“Missing IML32.dll” when starting the game.
A: Download the latest versions of Shockwave
or Flash for Windows here
or go to http://www.adobe.com/downloads/
You can also install DirectX 9 or 8 from the links below.
Q: Do I need DirectX?
A: If you need to update your system using Direct
X please do so with the follow links.
DirectX
9.0c
DirectX
8.1 Runtime for Windows 98 and Windows Me
Q:
Game crashes when approaching the ‘Jeep area’ or in
the service station toilets.
A: This is caused by a sound conflict with ‘accelerated
sound card settings’. You can fix the problem by switching
off sound acceleration in the DXDiag control area in Windows Control
Panel.
Q:
“iambigbrother’ stops the install program.
A: This is caused by Windows and Spyware programs
which wrongly report that a spyware program is being installed.
This is totally incorrect, as it is ‘Barrow Hill’
that is being installed. Barrow Hill does not contain any Spyware,
Malware or viruses.
You
can avoid this issue, should it occur, by switching off Spyware
and virus checkers during installation. Do switch these programs
back ‘on’ after installation.
Q:
Screen Hertz changes when playing.
A: There is no scripting included in Barrow Hill
to interfere with screen rates. The systems refresh rate should
remain whilst playing the game, though specific systems (and graphics
cards) may vary.
Q:
How to run Barrow Hill on Windows Vista or Windows 7.
A: To run Barrow Hill on Windows Vista or Window
7, install the game to the Documents folder or a Games folder
on your root drive, and Not Program Files, to allow save game
features.

I can't?
A: The Classic Edition and Directors Cut versions

Out has many different puzzles, hints, clues and ghosts to encounter.
You would be better following the new Dark Fall: Lights
Out - Companion as a guide through the game. The Companions

Q: Are there Bugs in Dark Fall 2? The Game doesn't match
my Walkthrough.
A: These are new and improved versions of the

The
Lost Crown:
A Ghost-Hunting Adventure
Q: Clicking the Walkie-Talkie on Day 3 makes Nigel jump
back to the beach.
A: Install the Updater, which can be found here.
(USA: Updater
1.0 to 1.1 Release)
Q:
Pop-up says: "This application failed to start because d3dx9_34.dll
was not found".
A: For UK and EU Boxed Copies
- Re-install the game, and DO NOT un-tick the 'Install DirectX9.0C'
option. Unticking this option will not install the correct version
of DirectX (needed by Windows to run the game).
A: For Digital Downloads versions. You will need
to update your system with Direct X 9.0c (needed by Windows to
run the game). You will need this version even if you already
have a higher version of Direct X installed, such as 10 or 11.
Installing version 9.0c should not effect any existing higher
versions. Please update with the follow link.
DirectX
9.0c
Q:
Install Tick-Box for DirectX9.0C still doesn't install Direct
X 9.
A: A rare occurance, on DirectX10 machines, but
if you find the install doesn't automatically install DirectX9.0C,
you can run the DriectX setup manually from Disk2. Open the contents
of the disk, open DXSetup folder. Then double click the icon called
'DXSetup.exe'. Note: On Vista the '.exe' part may not be visible
due to Vista not displaying 'file extensions', SO double-click
the file called 'DXSetup'. DirectX9.0C will iinstall, and off
you go!
Q:
Cannot get the 'Password to work'.
A: The Lost Crown require a Password to be entered
during installation. The password can be found on the game manual.
Enter the password sequence EXACTLY as shown, including any spaces,
dashes or hyphens. The password is also 'case sensitive', so use
capital letters.
Q:
My updater doesn't seem to change the Walkie-Talkie issue.
A: When installing the Updater; make sure you
install to the exact same location as your game files. On XP and
Vista, this is usually Program Files/The Lost Crown. If you changed
the default directory path, you will need to install the Updater
to that location. Secondly, some gamers have reported that the
Updater did not fully download. If your Updater fails to fix the
Walkie-Talkie issue, please download it again, and re-install.
Install the Updater, which can be found here.
